Our <br />programs provide opportunities for physical activity, social and emotional growth and <br />development, community engagement, and personal responsibility in the classroom as well as on <br />the baseball/softball diamond. <br />Fun at Bat afterschool program operates throughout the school year in 8 -week cycles, Monday - <br />Thursday for one hour a day. The hour is split between indoor learning and outdoor fundamental <br />play using the sport of baseball and softball. The Fun at Bat summer program operates for 4 <br />weeks to reduce summer learning lost. Children that participant in either the Fun at Bat afterschool <br />program or summer program benefit from an addition 40 plus hours of academic development <br />and physical activity. Aside from the Fun at Bat Program, WSA/RBI provides recreational baseball <br />and softball training and play. Kids as young as 2 years of age get introduced to the sport of <br />baseball. Through our partnerships with the Major League Baseball and the Jackie Robinson <br />Training Complex kids of Indian River County are afforded once in a lifetime opportunity. <br />Disadvantaged and underrepresented children enact and learn from Major League Baseball <br />players and a group of dedicated WSA/RBI staff solely focused on ensuring their success. The <br />fusion of sports and academics is a model that works for academic development and physical <br />activity. Fun at Bat creates a safe and pressure -free environment that allows children to play learn <br />and grow. <br />The projected number of unduplicated children to be served is four hundred (400). <br />
