Serv. <br />R?sit lulgt. <br />Other <br />Under Florida's water management system, responsibility for ensuring rotection, restoration and <br />wise use of the state's water resources is assigned to the Department o Environmental <br />Protection and the five regional water management districts. The dep ment and the water <br />management districts are cooperating as partners in intensive statewide efforts to establish better <br />strategies and plans for managing Florida's water resources. For the fir time, comprehensive <br />District Water Management Plans are now in place for each region of t ie state, and pursuant to <br />Sections 3 73.03 6 and 373.039, Florida Statutes, a state -level Florida Water Plan is being <br />developed. <br />On behalf of the Department of Environmental Protection and the five water management <br />districts, I invite you to participate in public workshops on the Florida Water Plan, which is <br />scheduled for adoption later this year. The purpose of the workshops is to explain the draft <br />Florida Water Plan and solicit suggestions from the general public prior to adoption of the plan by <br />the Department of Environmental Protection. <br />The draft Florida Water Plan is a product of close collaboration betwee the department, the <br />water management districts, and a broad-based team of representatives :i om federal, state, and <br />local agencies, as well as the private sector.
