2. Verify that concrete reinforcement may be installed in strict accordance <br />with all pertinent codes and regulations, the approved Shop Drawings, and <br />the original design. <br />B. Discrepancies <br />1. In the event of discrepancy, immediately notify the Architect. <br />2. Do not proceed with installation in areas of discrepancy until all such <br />discrepancies have been fully resolved. <br />3.02 BENDING <br />A. General <br />1. Fabricate all reinforcement in strict accordance with the approved Shop <br />Drawings and ASTM A-615. <br />2. Do not use bars with kinks or bends not shown on the Drawings or on the <br />approved Shop Drawings. <br />3. Do not bend or straighten steel in a manner that will injure the material. <br />3.03 PLACING <br />A. General <br />1. Before the start of concrete placement, accurately place all concrete <br />reinforcement, positively securing and supporting by means of approved <br />metal chairs, spacers, and metal hangers. <br />B. Clearance <br />1. Preserve clear space between bars of not less than one and one-half (1-1/2) <br />times the nominal diameter of round bars. <br />2. Provide minimum concrete covering of reinforcement as shown or noted <br />on the Structural Drawings, <br />3.04 CLEANING REINFORCEMENT <br />A. Steel reinforcement, at the time concrete is placed around it, shall be free from <br />rust scale loose mill scale, oil paint, and all other coatings which will destroy or <br />reduce the bond between steel and concrete. <br />***END OF SECTION*** <br />03200-3 <br />
