BOOK96 'F$fx 1 <br />by sharing our approved list so that there is no duplication of <br />donations. <br />Chairman Macht was concerned about duplication of effort, and <br />Commissioner Eggert was concerned about dropping the County program <br />entirely this year since the holidays are coming up fast. <br />Director Carlson advised that staff's recommendation is to <br />reduce the number of families in the program by half -- from 300 to <br />150. In order to reduce that much, we will look at incomes, <br />expenses and just take those who are the neediest. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, to approve staff's recom- <br />mendation of Option #1. <br />Under discussion, Chairman Macht and Commissioners Eggert and <br />Tippin emphasized that there will be 13 other agencies <br />administering Thanksgiving and Christmas programs and the County <br />will be taking care of the neediest 150 people. <br />Commissioner Adams noted that this is actually the reverse of <br />what we normally do. Usually, these programs get started and then <br />the County takes over the funding. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION.
