PROCLAMATION <br />HONORING JAMIE KEVIN COLEMAN ON HIS RETIREMENT <br />FROM THE INDIAN RIPER CO UNTY DEPARTMENT OF <br />EMERGENCY SERVICES I FIRE RESCUE DIVISION <br />WHEREAS, Battalion Chief Jamie Coleman began his journey as a Firefighter with Indian <br />River County on November 4, 1989; and, <br />WHEREAS, Chief Coleman advanced through the Fire Service ranks becoming an EMT and <br />Open Water Diver within his first year of service and through diligent work and demonstrated <br />ability, he advanced through the ranks to become a Driver/Engineer in 2006, obtained his <br />Paramedic certification in 2009, rose to Captain in 2014 and on October 16, 2015 achieved the <br />distinction of Battalion Chief in which capacity he served until his retirement on February 28, <br />2022; and, <br />WHEREAS, during his time with the County, Chief Coleman served under four fire chiefs and <br />was valued as a leader who was a constant thread of stability; knowledge, and creativity that <br />helped the Department progress through many years of change; and <br />WHEREAS, Chief Coleman is characterized by his colleagues as a strong leader able to take <br />control of situations, an empathetic leader willing to listen and understand both his superiors <br />and those under his command but, most importantly, a loyal leader who never gave up on anyone; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Chief Coleman was and continues to be well known and recognized throughout <br />the County as a professional who, with his family by his side, always gave of his free time to non- <br />profit events and organizations that benefited his co-workers and his community. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the Board is <br />grateful to Chief Coleman for his thirty-three years of unwavering service, commitment and <br />dedication to his profession, his peers, and the citizens of Indian River County. <br />Adopted this I st day of March, 2022. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIANRIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Peter D.
