Public Hearing Date for 10 Applicants for Class E (Wheelchair) <br />Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessitv for Providers Currently <br />Under Contract with the Transportation Coordinator <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of September 29, 1995: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler <br />County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: September 29, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Establishment of Public Hearing Date for Board <br />Consideration of Ten (10) Applicants For a Class E <br />(Wheelchair) Certificate of Public Convenience and <br />Necessity for Providers Currently Under Contract With <br />the Transportation Coordinator <br />On September 19, 1995, The Board of County Commissioners approved <br />an ordinance which amended Chapter 304 of the Indian River County <br />Code of Laws and Ordinances titled "Life Support and Wheelchair <br />Services." The amendments include a Class E Certificate of Public <br />Convenience and Necessity for the purpose of regulating wheelchair <br />service providers. <br />The Board also directed staff to complete the certificate process <br />for providers currently under contract with the Transportation <br />Coordinator in a timely manner so that the Board could consider the <br />applications prior to November 1, 1995, in order to preclude any <br />interruption in service. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is recommended the Board approve a public hearing date of <br />October 24, 1995, to provide staff sufficient time to complete the <br />certificate process for this substantial number of applicants. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board by a 4-0 vote <br />(Commissioner Eggert being absent) unanimously <br />approved October 24, 1995, as the public hearing <br />date for the applicants, as recommended by staff. <br />BOOK 96 PAE 287 <br />OCTOBER 10, 1995 3 <br />
