RESOLUT ION 7/0-18 <br />The Commissioners of Indian River County have designated <br />May 22-23 as 'Poppy Days' 1970 in the county of Indian Rivers <br />as petitioned by the four American Legion Auxiliaries in the <br />county. <br />Proclamation; <br />WHEREAS, THE American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary <br />adopted the Memorial Poppy as its memorial flower in 1917, <br />and <br />1111HEiiEAS, by wearing the Poppy, Americans everywhere and <br />especially in this county of Indian River both pay tribute to <br />these war dead and aid the livinr by assistance to veterans <br />and their families in th&se time of need; and <br />WHEELAS, The Poppy Day Prot,.ram contributions are used solely <br />for the programs of Child *delfare and Rehabilitation in our <br />I <br />county and state; <br />I <br />I <br />Now therefore, we the Commissioners of Indian River County do <br />hereby proclaim the month of May 1970 as Poppy month and <br />May 22-23 as Poppy Days in our county and we urge all citizens <br />of our county to join with us in the wearing-, of the Memorial <br />Flower as together we remember the sacrifices of so many in <br />defense of our freedom. /,� <br />
