Mr. Silva asked that the Board consider changing the ordinance <br />to allow one -ton trucks instead of stopping at three-quarters ton <br />trucks, but Commissioner Bird wondered where the threshold would <br />stop. However, he thought that a one -ton truck is more of a <br />conventional truck than it used to be. <br />Roland DeBlois, Chief of Environmental Planning, pointed out <br />that there are an awful lot of issues involved here, and <br />Commissioner Adams suggested that the Professional Services <br />Advisory Committee (PSAC) look at the issue and come back with a <br />recommendation. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner. Adams,.. SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board by a 4-0 vote <br />(Commissioner Eggert being absent) put Mr. Silva's <br />Code Enforcement case on hold while the matter is <br />sent to the Professional Services Advisory Committee <br />for a recommendation to be brought back to the <br />Board. <br />AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE DISASTER RESPONSE & <br />RECOVERY EQUIPMENT WITH DEVELOPMENT OF REGIONAL <br />AWACT MD FUNDS <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 10/10/95: <br />TO: The Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Jim Chandler, County Administrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: October 10, 1995 <br />SUBJECT: Authorization to Purchase Disaster Response & Recovery <br />Equipment With Development of Regional Impact (DRI) Funds <br />Budget Amendment 001 <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be <br />given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at the <br />next regular scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION & CONDITIONS: <br />Subsequent to Hurricane Erin, several critiques were held with agencies <br />and individuals involved in the response and recovery operations. The <br />following areas were identified as areas needing improvement: <br />1. Improved Automatic Call Down System <br />This system allows for a large volume of calls to be made to the <br />Special Needs population, county employees and municipalities. <br />Various messages are pre-programmed into the computer and the <br />OCTOBER 17, 1995 34 BOOK 96 PAGE 349 <br />
