with higher speed access in some areas of the County, however, this is quite <br />limited. <br />FCC data on fixed broadband deployment shows 39.6% of rural Indian River County <br />(population 11,917) have no 100/10 Mbps broadband service, and 43.6% are served <br />by a single provider. <br />Other providers include EarthLink, Viasat, HughesNet, and Florida Broadband, <br />which resell AT&T DSL, provide fixed wi,eless connections, or sell satellite service in <br />the area. While plans that meet the mirimim broadband definition 25/3 Mbps are <br />available, this report focuses on speeds of 100/10 Mbps or greater, which is <br />consistent with GAO findings for business requirements. These providers are listed <br />for completeness, but detailed comparisons are omitted. <br />To gain an understanding of offerings and prices from service providers, multiple <br />addresses covering 8 ZIP codes were researched for a representative sample of <br />published services. The results of which are detailed in the charts below for each <br />service provider. <br />Comcast/Xfinity: Xfinity is the retail broadband brand for Comcast. Comcast is the <br />largest cable internet provider in the US. Xfinity offers internet plans as well as <br />bundled TV/Internet/Phone service thrcughout much of Indian River County, but <br />service is not available to southern and western addresses examined.
