Appendix A: Fiber Network Design and <br />Construction Specifications <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The purpose of this document is to describe the guidelines and methods by which <br />the physical components for the County of Indian River fiber networks will be <br />designed and installed. Completed construction projects will follow the guidelines <br />and principles outlined in this document, in addition to local rules, regulations, and <br />specifications as they apply. Contractors will adhere to industry standard quality <br />installation principles and provide quality installation services to ensure that the <br />most reliable and cost-effective network is built. <br />All fiber routes will be installed to fall within the public right-of-way (ROW), existing <br />utility easements, or other property to which the County has legal access. <br />Any changes to this document will be provided in writing and a revised version will <br />be disseminated to all stakeholders upon approval. <br />Issue Revision Date Change Description Authors <br />20211122 11/22/21 Initial Revision <br />GENERAL GUIDELINES <br />John Williams <br />These guidelines identify and define the County of Indian River's requirements and <br />policies for designing and installing broadband infrastructure and substructure for <br />the County. Use of, and compliance with these guidelines is mandatory for <br />architects, engineers, and installation contractors including all subcontractors <br />working on the County of Indian River's Network Infrastructure upgrades, moves, <br />maintenance and restoration projects. <br />The County Infrastructure Standards are based upon the code requirements and <br />telecommunications industry standards contained in the following guidelines. <br />These guidelines will not duplicate the information contained in those references, <br />except where necessary to provide guidance, clarification or direction.
