Szpyrka, P.E Public Works Director <br />THROUGH: Eric Charest, Natural Resources Manager <br />FROM: Kylie Ariotti, Beach Environmental Specialist <br />SUBJECT: Sector 5 Beach and Dune Restoration Project (IRC1923) APTIM, Work <br />Order No. 2018029-9, Year 1 Post -Construction Engineering Monitoring <br />Report <br />DATE: September 24, 2021 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On April 3, 2018, the Board approved a contract with APTIM Environmental & Infrastructure, LLC. <br />(APTIM) for professional coastal engineering and biological support services related to the <br />management and restoration of the Sector 5 (City of Vero Beach) beach project area. The Sector <br />5 project area is a 3 -mile section of shoreline that extends just north of Tracking Station Beach <br />Park south to the Gables Oceanfront Condominiums and sustained damages from Hurricanes <br />Matthew (2016) Irma (2017) and Dorian (2019). Construction of the large-scale beach and dune <br />nourishment project was completed February 2020. <br />Regulatory permits issued for the beach restoration activities identify post -construction related <br />monitoring to be performed on a set schedule for several years following completion of <br />construction. These monitoring activities are evaluated to demonstrate compliance with permit <br />conditions. APTIM will develop an engineering monitoring report that discusses the performance <br />of the beach fill project in order to meet FDE0 JCP Permit 0363427 -002 -JN requirements. <br />The proposed Work Order No. 2018029-9, in the amount of $28,068.00, provides professional <br />services for permit required year 1 post -construction engineering monitoring which includes: <br />• Year 1 Post -Construction Engineering Monitoring Report (Task 1) <br />All subsequent annual post construction en&neering monitoring of the Sector 5 Project area will <br />be addressed through future work orders. <br />117 <br />
