ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER LOY, S(.CONDED BY COMMISSIONER MASSEY, <br />TliE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY ADOPTED, <br />RESOLUTION N0.72-7.2 <br />WIIEREAS, there has previously been appointed a committee <br />of the Board of County Commissioners, representing the County of <br />Indian River, to work with a like committee appointed by the City <br />Council of the City of Vero Beach, known as the Bus Study Committee, <br />looking forward to the implementation of a mass transit service for <br />the City of Vero Beach and Indian River County, Florida, and <br />WHEREAS, this joint committee has had numerous meetings in <br />which the matter has been thoroughly explored, and <br />WHEREAS, this committee has also met with the representa- <br />tive of the Departmett of Transportation of the State of Florida, and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation of the State of <br />Florida is to have a meeting in Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday, March <br />23, 1972, at which time the budgetary requirements for the ensuing <br />budgetary year will be presented, and <br />WHEREAS, it appears not only desirable but necessary, before <br />further action can be taken in regard to implementing a mass transit <br />system for Vero Beach and Indian River County, that a feasibility study <br />be made in order to determine the necessary requirements for such <br />service, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY: <br />That we do request the Department of Transportation of the <br />State of Florida, to include in its budget a sum that will be sufficient <br />to defray 50% of the cost of such feasibility study, which is estimated <br />not to exceed $10, 000. 00, and that the Department of Transportation <br />be and the same is hereby advised that the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, together with the City Council <br />of the City of Vero Beach, will supplement the grant from the Depart- <br />ment of Transportation so as to provide the remaining 500/6 of the cost <br />of such feasibility study for a total maximum cost of Such study not to <br />- 11 - <br />
