Division 2 - Technical Provisions, IRC -1639 <br />d. Granular Base Material: Granular base material to be added to the reclaimed layers shall <br />consist of limerock meeting the requirements for Limerock Stabilized Base of the FDOT <br />Specifications, Section 911. Further, it shall have a minimum LBR value of 100. <br />3. Equipment <br />a. General: The Contractor shall accomplish the work utilizing a road reclaimer, a motor <br />grader, a vibratory roller or three -wheeled roller, a water truck with spray bar and such <br />additional equipment as may be necessary to the operation. The required equipment shall <br />be subject to the County's approval, and the County may, at any time during the work, <br />disapprove the use of a particular machine for unsafe, erratic, or inadequate performance. <br />Utilization of a proper road reclaimer and compaction equipment as specified herein is <br />essential to this work, and substitution of other equipment or a different technique shall not <br />be acceptable. <br />b. Reclaimer: The work shall be performed utilizing a road reclaimer machine originally <br />designed for pavement reclaiming. The road reclaimer shall be a model of equal or greater <br />of 400 horsepower and an 8' cutting/ mixing width. The reclaimer shall be capable of <br />pulverizing and mixing pavement, base materials, and subgrade soil to depth of 16 inches. It <br />shall be capable of injecting asphalt emulsion into the rotor chamber at an accurately <br />controlled rate and of doing so in confined areas inaccessible to a tanker truck. <br />c. Compacting Equipment: The Contractor shall compact the reclaimed base material with a <br />vibratory roller weighing not less than 13,000 lbs. or by a three wheeled roller weighing not <br />less than 11 tons. The vibrator must be fully operable at maximum amplitude throughout <br />the compacting process. <br />4. Construction Procedure <br />a. General: When the work is to be performed under traffic, each lane shall be completed in <br />segments, the lengths and limits of which shall be approved by the County. The County may <br />limit the length of the work zone to avoid causing a traffic hazard or undue delay. Before <br />commencing the reclaiming operations, the Contractor shall set alignment stakes (laths) at <br />intervals of 200 feet or less on both sides of the road, offset at least 4 feet from the proposed <br />edge of pavement for use in preparing the base and placing the new pavement. The setting <br />of laths shall be in addition to any other markers or reference points required under the <br />Contract, and the placing of surveying markers or other references elsewhere shall not <br />substitute for the required laths along the existing pavement. Prior to beginning work, the <br />Contractor shall relocate all mailboxes, newspaper boxes, signs, and other appurtenances <br />which are located within such proximity to the roadway as to risk damage or to interfere <br />with the work. Before this work may begin, residents and businesses shall be notified of the <br />impending work by means of portable changeable message signs (PCMS). After all other <br />work items are complete, the removed items shall be replaced in their original locations, <br />except that the distance from the proposed edge of pavement shall be as prescribed by <br />County requirements or guidelines. <br />b.
