RESOLUTION NO. 72-65 <br />e WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioner of <br />Indian River County in compliance with the requirements <br />of Florida law and the request of the Florida Department of <br />Revenue has authorized the Indian River County Tax Assessor <br />to review and update assessments of real and tangible personal <br />property in Indian River County, and <br />WHEREAS, the Indian River County Tax Assessor has <br />estimated the reassessment will double the tax base for Indian <br />River County, and <br />WHEREAS, this Board wishes to establish by resolution <br />its fiscal responsibility to the taxpayer of Indian River <br />County, and <br />WHEREAS, this Board desires the other taxing bodies <br />in Indian River County to join with this Board in holding down <br />taxes, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY: <br />1. That this Board recognizes its responsibility <br />to provide services for the orderly growth of <br />Indian River County, but determines that those <br />services will be limited only to necessary services. <br />2. That this Board adopts as a policy to levy only <br />the taxes necessary to continue existing programs <br />and any additional programs will only be approved <br />upon complete justification and priority. <br />3. That inspite of a broadened tax base, this Board <br />intends to protect the taxpayer as well as the <br />orderly growth of this County by holding the line <br />on taxes wherever possible. <br />4. That this Board requests all other taxing bodies <br />in Indian River County to join with this Board <br />in adopting the above statements of policy. <br />-11- <br />
