RESOLUTION <br />NO. 73-30 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE LEGISLATURE <br />TO CONSIDER AN INCREASE TO MEDICAID PATIENTS <br />FROM $350 00 TO $500. 00 PER MONTH. <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Medicaid Program with its maximum pay- <br />ment of $350. 00 per month is not sufficient to meet the required cost <br />of nursing home care, and <br />WHEREAS, many nursing homes are reluctant to take Medicaid <br />patients because of the low payments and thus created an acute bed <br />shortage for Medicaid patients, and <br />WHEREAS, such nursing homes are reluctant to reserve any <br />beds for Medicaid patients except a very minimal amount. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, that: <br />The Board thinks in the best interest of the sick and elderly <br />that the Florida Legislature appropriate a maximum payment of <br />$500. 00 per month for Medicaid Nursing Home Care, which payment <br />is more in line with actual nursing home costs and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be forwarded to members of the Florida State Legislative <br />Delegation representing this area, asking support in the increase of <br />payments available for Medicaid patients in nursing homes. <br />PASSED AND DULY ADOPTED in regular session this 4th <br />day of April, A.
