RESOLUTION N0).73-31 <br />WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida has <br />passed the Florida State Comprehensive Planning Act of 1972 <br />and the Florida Environmental Land and Water Management <br />Act of 1972, and <br />WHEREAS, said Acts require the division of the State <br />into regional planning districts, and <br />WHEREAS, these regional planning districts are to be <br />given the power to make decisions mandatorily binding on City <br />and County governments, and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County fear that the implementation of these <br />two Acts will result in a loss of local government's ability <br />to control and guide the orderly development of cities and <br />counties, and <br />WHEREAS, it is within the power of the Legislature <br />to insure the future of local control, <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board <br />of County Commissioners of Indian River County, that it <br />requests the State Legislature to do all in its power to in- <br />sure that implementation of the Florida State Comprehen- <br />sive Planning Act and the Florida Environmental Land and <br />Water Management Act of 1972 does not cause a loss of <br />local control over local problems. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this <br />Resolution be forwarded to Indian River County's L.egisla- <br />tive delegation. <br />ATTEST: <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />B Y 4%�'C —Z zx�—, <br />Alma Lee Loy, Chairman <br />Ralph IWris, Clerk <br />-19- <br />
