Attachment A <br />1 It Revision) <br />Budget and Scope of Work <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: <br />The purpose of this Scope of Work (SOW) is to mitigate at -risk areas and decrease the risk of <br />damage or loss of life from wildfires in Indian River County, Florida, funded through the Hazard <br />Mitigation Grant Program HMGP) DR -4283-95-R, as approved by the Florida Division of <br />Emergency Management (Division) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA). <br />The Sub -Recipient, Indian River County, agrees to administer and complete the project as <br />submitted by the Sub -Recipient and subsequently approved by the Division and FEMA. The <br />Sub -Recipient shall complete the work in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and <br />Local Laws, Regulations and Codes. <br />PROJECT OVERVIEW: <br />As a Hazard Mitigation Grant Program project, the Sub -Recipient proposes to mitigate the threat <br />of future wildfires through Defensible space measures, implementing a countywide program for <br />wildfire management located in Indian River County, Florida. <br />The scope of work proposes to create defensible space by creating a perimeter around <br />residential or non-residential structures by removing or reducing the volume of flammable <br />vegetation, including clearing tree branches, vertically and horizontally. The volume of <br />vegetation is minimized, flammable vegetation is replaced with less flammable species, and <br />combustibles are cleared in accordance with all applicable codes and best practices.
