BooK96 PA,E 653 <br />ORDINANCE 95-31 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, UPDATING THE STANDARD <br />TECHNICAL CODES TO REFLECT THE LATEST <br />EDITIONS. <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has adopted standard <br />technical codes for its building codes; and <br />WHEREAS, these technical codes are updated and new <br />additions issued from time to time pursuant to Section 553.73, F.S. ; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the current required updated codes are set forth <br />herein, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, that: <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT SECTION 401.01. <br />Section 401.01 is hereby partially amended to reflect deletion <br />of the 1991 editions and the addition of the new editions of the <br />standard technical codes as follows: <br />Standard Building Code (SBC), 1994 Edition' <br />Standard Plumbing Code (SPC), 1994 Edition <br />Standard Mechanical Code (SMC), 1994 Edition <br />Standard Gas Code (SGC), 1994 Edition <br />'Including the engineering design criteria contained in Section <br />1606 and excluding Chapter 11, "Accessibility for People with <br />Physical Disabilities" and Appendix E, "Energy Conservation". <br />Section 1606 of the Standard Building Code shall be the minimum <br />wind load criteria used for the design of all one and two family <br />dwellings. Compliance with the engineering design criteria con- <br />tained in Section 1606 may be achieved by using the Southern <br />Building Code Congress International, Inc., Standard SSTD 10-93 <br />for Hurricane Resistant Residential Construction. <br />SECTION 2. REPEAL. <br />Those portions of the Indian River County Code superseded <br />or in conflict with the provisions herein adopted, in particular Chapter <br />401, are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any section, or any sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word <br />of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional, <br />inoperative, or void, such holding shall not affect the remaining <br />Portions of this ordinance, and it shall be construed to have been the <br />legislative intent to pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional, <br />Invalid or inoperative part. <br />SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />A certified copy of this ordinance, as enacted, shall be' filed <br />by the Clerk with the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of <br />Florida within ten days after enactment, and this ordinance shall take <br />effect upon filing with the Secretary of State. <br />Approved and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County, Florida, on this 21 day of November , 1995. <br />NOVEMBER 21, 1995 50 <br />
