Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes - Final May 10, 2022 <br />bike lanes ranged from seven -foot to four -foot, and confirmed the five-foot bike <br />lane does meet the standard. <br />Chairman O'Bryan received confirmation from Director Szpyrka that the County <br />would put in seven -foot bike lanes when it was feasible. Director Szpyrka detailed <br />current County and DOT projects that would include seven -foot bike lanes. <br />Chairman O'Bryan addressed an email he had received, and relayed that the County <br />had been working with the Bike/Pedestrian Group for over a year on this particular <br />project. He felt staff had done a great job in reaching out to the stakeholders and <br />working with them on these issues. <br />In response to a question raised by Vice Chairman Earman, Director Szpyrka <br />explained the process and costs involved to redesign the project to accommodate a <br />seven -foot bike lane. A discussion followed on striving for seven -foot bike lanes <br />and painting the bike lanes for greater visibility. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Adams, seconded by Chairman O'Bryan, to <br />approve staffs recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />Aye: 4 - Chairman O'Bryan, Vice Chairman Earman, Commissioner Adams, and Commissioner <br />Flescher <br />Nay: 1 - Commissioner Moss <br />9.
