Board of County Commissioners Meeting Minutes - Final May 10, 2022 bike lanes ranged from seven -foot to four -foot, and confirmed the five-foot bike lane does meet the standard. Chairman O'Bryan received confirmation from Director Szpyrka that the County would put in seven -foot bike lanes when it was feasible. Director Szpyrka detailed current County and DOT projects that would include seven -foot bike lanes. Chairman O'Bryan addressed an email he had received, and relayed that the County had been working with the Bike/Pedestrian Group for over a year on this particular project. He felt staff had done a great job in reaching out to the stakeholders and working with them on these issues. In response to a question raised by Vice Chairman Earman, Director Szpyrka explained the process and costs involved to redesign the project to accommodate a seven -foot bike lane. A discussion followed on striving for seven -foot bike lanes and painting the bike lanes for greater visibility. A motion was made by Commissioner Adams, seconded by Chairman O'Bryan, to approve staffs recommendation. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 4 - Chairman O'Bryan, Vice Chairman Earman, Commissioner Adams, and Commissioner Flescher Nay: 1 - Commissioner Moss 9.
