RESOLUTION NO. 87- 43 <br />WHEREAS, the Florid-. Department of Transportation has scheduled <br />O the widening of State Road 5 (US 1) between the South Relief Canal and 10th <br />Street during fiscal year 1987-1988; and <br />WHEREAS, Tne Florida Department of Transportation had originally <br />• scheduled the widening of State Road 5 during fiscal year 1986-1987; and <br />WHEREAS, the annual average daily traffic volume on State Road 5 <br />in this section has increased from 23,900 in 1985 to 25,100 in 1986 and is <br />operating at a level of service D; and <br />WHEREAS, the lack of left -turn lanes at 4th and 8th Street <br />contributes to safety problems at the intersections. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />CMUSSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER OOt1N1Y, FLORIDA that <br />The Florida Department of Transportation proceed with planned <br />improvements to State Road 5 between the South Relief Canal and 10th Street <br />at soon as possible to improve safety. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by CcmRissioner Bird <br />who moved its adoption.
