The use of any other company or entity for the collection and disposal of solid waste in the <br />Hillsborough County solid waste service area may be a violation of Chapter 130, Hillsborough County, <br />Florida Code of Ordinances and Laws, Part B, Public Utilities, as amended. <br />5.30. Starting The Work <br />The Contractor will start the Work and/or Project on the date determined by the County in its Purchase Order or <br />Notice to Proceed. <br />5.31. Statement of Assurance <br />During the performance of this Contract, the Contractor herein assures the County, that said Contractor is in <br />compliance with Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, as amended, and the Florida Human Rights Act of 1977 in <br />that the Contractor does not on the grounds of race, color national origin, religion, sex, age, disability or marital <br />status, discriminate in any form or manner against said Contractor's employees or applicants for employment. The <br />Contractor understands and agrees that this Contract is conditioned upon the veracity of this Statement of Assurance. <br />Furthermore, the Contractor herein assures the County that said Contractor will comply with Title VI of the Civil <br />Rights Act of 1964 when federal grant(s) is/are involved. This Statement of Assurance shall include Vietnam -Era <br />Veterans and Disabled Veterans within its protective range of applicability. <br />5.32. Suspension of Work <br />Upon seven (7) Days written notice to the Contractor, the County may, without cause and without prejudice to any <br />other right or remedy, elect to abandon the Work and/or Project and terminate this Contract. In such case the <br />Contractor shall be paid for all Work executed and/or goods delivered to and accepted by the County. <br />5.33. Termination for Contractor Engaging in Business Operations in Cuba or Syria and Termination for <br />Contractor Being on the Scrutinized Companies Lists Set Forth in Florida Statutes, Section 287.135 <br />Contractor is advised that Section 287.135, Florida Statutes, prohibits agencies and governmental entities from <br />contracting with a company for goods and/or services of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) or more if such company <br />(i) is engaged in business operations in Cuba or Syria, (ii) is on the Scrutinized Companies that Boycott Israel List <br />(created pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 215.4725), (iii) is on the Scrutinized Companies with Activities in <br />Sudan List (created pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 215.473), or (iv) is on the Scrutinized Companies with <br />Activities in the Iran Petroleum Energy Sector List (created pursuant to Florida Statutes, Section 215.473). The <br />County reserves the right to terminate the Contract if the County discovers that the Contractor has submitted a false <br />certification regarding the Contractor's business operations in Cuba or Syria and/or the Contractor's presence on the <br />Scrutinized Companies that Boycott Israel List, the Scrutinized Companies with Activities in Sudan List, and/or the <br />Scrutinized Companies with Activities in the Iran Petroleum Energy Sector List (hereinafter referred to collectively <br />as the "Scrutinized Companies Lists"). In addition, the County reserves the right to terminate the Contract if, prior <br />to the award of the Contract or during the Contract Period, the Contractor engages in business operations in Cuba or <br />Syria and/or the Contractor has been placed on one or more of the Scrutinized Companies Lists. <br />Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners Page 61 of 61 <br />
