11/01/87.1(reso/brp)BB/jl <br />RESOLUTION NO. 87- 133 <br />A RESOLUTION OF INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY, FLORIDA TO TRANSFER LOCAL_ <br />SPONSORSHIP OF THE VERO BEACH <br />• RESTORATION PROJECT TO THE C I TY OF <br />VERO BEACH. <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County is the sponsor of the <br />Beach Restoration Project proposed for the northern portion <br />of the City of Vero Beach and abutting unincorporated lands <br />in Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, said Vero Beach Nourishment Project has <br />received congressional authorization and is proposed for <br />appropriation in the fiscal year 1988 federal budget; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has submitted a funding <br />application to the Florida Department of Natural Resources <br />for matching state funds for the project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Vero Beach Nourishment Project is <br />approaching the implementation stage; and <br />WHEREAS, approximately ninety-three percent (93%) of <br />the project limits fall entirely within the corporate limits <br />of the City of Vero Beach; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County has been in contact with <br />the various federal and state officials involved to <br />determine that transfer of local sponsorship for the Vero <br />Beach Nourishment Project would not hinder the approaching <br />implementation stage of the project; and <br />WHEREAS, if the City of Vero Beach assumed <br />responsibility as the local sponsor of the Vero Beach <br />Nourishment Project, the County staff could direct its <br />resources to implementation of other aspects of the Beach <br />Preservation Plan for Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, based on the foregoing it would be beneficial <br />to Indian River County and to the City of Vero Beach to <br />transfer sponsorship of the project to the City of Vero <br />Beach; <br />0 <br />
