4/20/88(LEGAL)jail/resoSPBord/jl <br />RESOLUTION NO. 88-29 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, ABOLISHING THE JAIL "FAST-TRACK" <br />COMMITTEE AND THE JAIL OVERSIGHT <br />COMMITTEE. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to an Order of the Court, the Board <br />of County Commissioners of Indian River County has <br />previously created a jail "Fast -Track" Committee and the <br />Jail Oversight Committee to address the problems of jail <br />overcrowding at county correctional facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, on April 5, 1988, the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, by Resolution <br />88-21 established a Correctional Planning Committee as <br />required by Chapter 951.26, Florida Statutes, the purpose of <br />which is to assess the population status of all correctional <br />facilities owned by the County and formulate recommendations <br />to assure that the authorized capacities of such facilities, <br />as established by the Department of Corrections, are not <br />exceeded and to develop a local correctional facilities plan <br />for future construction needs; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Fast -Track Committee" and the Jail <br />Oversight Committee are comprised of essentially the same <br />persons and for the same purposes as are required for the <br />County Correctional Planning Committee pursuant to Chapter <br />951.26, Florida Statutes; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the <br />"Fast -Track Committee" and the Jail Oversight Committee are <br />hereby abolished and that the County Correctional Planning <br />Committee shall be designated to address all future matters <br />concerning jail overcrowding and future jail planning needs. <br />
