ARTICLE 6 <br />UNION ACTIVITY <br />6.01 The Employer and the Union acknowledge that the right of employees to work shall not be <br />deprived or abridged on account of membership, non -membership, participation, or non - <br />participation in any Union or organization. <br />6.02 The Union President or Secretary, or alternate shall be allowed up to three (3) weeks' time <br />off to attend a union seminar, conference or convention. The time off shall be without pay <br />and shall be considered leave of absence unless a standby arrangement has been provided. <br />6.03 Up to four (4) members of the Union's Negotiations Team shall be allowed time off with <br />pay, but without overtime, for all scheduled bargaining meetings between the Union and <br />the Employer. The Union President will advise the County of the designated negotiating <br />team by February 1 of the year the contract expires. Such time off will only be allowed <br />when working hours of the Employee conflict with bargaining unit negotiations. The four <br />(4) members of the Union's Negotiations Team who were allowed time off with pay shall <br />return to duty immediately upon the conclusion of all bargaining meetings. <br />6.04 By mutual agreement of the Employer and the Union, there is hereby established a Joint <br />Labor -Management Committee, which shall consist of not more than three (3) members <br />designated by the Union and three (3) members designated by the Fire Chief. The Union <br />Committee membership shall consist of persons from within the position classification <br />covered by this agreement, and the management membership shall consist of persons <br />within the Department, but outside the bargaining unit as herein defined. Nothing herein <br />requires -the attendance of the Director of Emergency Services or the Union President at <br />any Labor -Management Committee meeting. <br />6.05 This Labor -Management Committee shall meet if mutually agreed to by both parties, and <br />such meetings may be held during working hours as scheduled by the Fire Chief. <br />G7 <br />
