Families
are provided with safe, clean shelter, food and services to help them gain stability and self-
sufficiency. Adults go through financial literacy training, budgeting, support for employment, and
once employed save 75% of their net income for permanent housing. Children are enrolled in
appropriate schooling, day care, after school, summer, winter, and spring break camps. While
living at the shelter, case management works with adults to attain financial and housing goals,
and children for behavioral, emotional and academic support. We work directly with community
agencies to lead families to needed supportive services. We have expanded the children's
program, now that the Reading Resource Center is completed. The room is manned every
evening by a learning coach so that children can work on homework assignments, read quietly,
or young children can be read to. The learning coach is also available to tutor children who need
extra support. The expanded program is managed by the Social Service Director.
The projected number of unduplicated children to be served is one hundred seventy-three (173)
and ninety-seven (97) adults.
