The requested funding would be utilized for post event grant support, bid fees, <br />destination marketing and administrative costs. The goal is to attract sporting events that will increase tourist <br />development tax collections, occupancy for hotels and restaurants, facility rental fees while generating a positive <br />economic impact within Indian River County. Participants and spectators will spend dollars on accommodations, food <br />and beverage, shopping, gas, etc, which will increase sales tax revenue, tourist tax collections and business <br />occupancy. <br />The Treasure Coast Sports Commission (TCSC) is the recognized Sports Tourism Management and Marketing <br />Organization for the Treasure Coast Region. The TCSC has a successful track record of attracting sporting events to <br />the Treasure Coast plus tracking the actualized room nights and overall economic impact per event. Historically, 80-90 <br />grant funded events are hosted annually on the Treasure Coast, with 25-30 of those events taking place in Indian River <br />County. FY2023, the TCSC is projecting 110 grant funded events to be hosted on the Treasure Coast, with 35-38 of <br />these events taking place in Indian River County. If an event is <br />cancelled or does not take place, Indian River County retains the money. Grant funds are dispersed post an event once <br />proper paperwork has been submitted. <br />The TCSC has a successful track record of attracting sporting events to the Treasure Coast plus tracking the actualized <br />room nights and overall economic impact per'event.
