ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously approved <br />the request of County Attorney Vitunac to attend the <br />FPELRA Training Conference in Orlando, January 29, <br />30, and 31,.1996. <br />NEW HORIZONS IN-HOUSE TAIL SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND <br />AFTERCARE PROGRAM <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of- January 17, 1996 and letter <br />dated January 22, 1996: <br />TO: Members of the Board <br />of County Commissioners <br />DATE: January 17, 1996 <br />SUBJECT: IN HOUSE JAIL SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND AFTER CARE PROGRAM - <br />FROM: JosephA. Baird <br />OMB Director <br />. DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Substance Abuse Council of Indian River County, Chief Circuit Judge and Sheriff have requested we <br />readdress funding the New Horizons In House Jail Substance Abuse and Aftercare Program. <br />This has been discussed three times by the Board of County Commissioners since October 1995. It was <br />denied by the Board of County Commissioners because of the burden of funding $35,011.00 from the General <br />Fund contingencies. <br />The request in front of you today is to fund the program from February 1996 to October 1996 at a cost of <br />$23,340.00. Substance Abuse Council has a donor who will contribute $5,000.00 and Sheriff Wheeler has <br />offered $5,000.00 from his Law Enforcement Trust fund leaving $13,340.00 to be funded from the General <br />Fund contingencies. ` <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />If the Board of County Commissioners wishes to, fund4thein House Jail Substance Abuse and Aftercare <br />Program, a budget amendment from the General Fund Reserve for Contingency account for $13,340.00 <br />needs to be approved. <br />23 BOOK 9 7 Fb�E AOJanuary 23, 1996 <br />
