The culmination of this effort will include diverse community and industry sectors, such as libraries, K-12 education, colleges and universities, local health care providers, private businesses, community organizations, economic development organizations, local governments, tourism (development organizations), parks and recreation, and agriculture working together to develop measurable goals, objectives, and benchmarks that will help keep broadband planning efforts on track in subsequent years. Local Technology Planning Team members will have the opportunity to collaborate with internet service providers to identify existing and emerging technologies and strategies to further the expansion and utilization of broadband internet. This will be accomplished through the implementation of strategic initiatives developed by the Local Technology Planning Teams to advance the availability and accessibility of broadband services. The initial work of the Local Technology Planning Teams is designed to be enduring, meaning the needs assessment can be updated over time and the county or region's broadband strategy can be adjusted according to changing circumstances, technologies, and the results of future deployment efforts. The practice of broadband planning has shown it can have a significant, positive impact on accessibility and availability of broadband for municipalities, counties, regions, and the state. As your Local Technology Planning Team develops a greater understanding of the accessibility and availability of broadband in your county or region and begins to develop and implement strategies to bridge the digital divide, it impacts not only other counties, but also the region and the entire state. Local Technology Planning Teams are a vital part of Florida's broadband expansion, and adoption efforts are critical to the state's future success in an increasingly technology dependent global economy.
