RESOLUTION NO, 75-67 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River <br />A County, Florida, in an effort to promote the most economical, <br />efficient, and effective system of government to the citizens of <br />Indian River County deems it necessary and expedient to form a <br />Charter Commission pursuant to Fla. Stat. 125.60-64 (1973), as <br />amended; and <br />WHEREAS, such Charter Commission should be comprised of <br />thirteen (13) members, appointed by the County Commission of <br />Indian River County, Florida, who will represent a cross section <br />of the County thereby affording equitable representation for the <br />interests of all citizens. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />1). There is hereby created a Charter Commission adopted <br />pursuant to Fla. Stat. 125.60-64 (1973), as amended. The Charter <br />Commission shall be composed of thirteen (13) members. The members <br />of the Commission shall be appointed by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida. No member of the <br />Legislature or of the Board of County Commissioners shall be a <br />member of the Charter Commission. Vacancies shall be filled, within <br />thirty (30) days in the same manner as the original appointments. <br />2). The Charter Commission appointed pursuant to Fla. <br />Stat. 125.61 (1973), as amended, shall meet for the purpose of <br />organization within thirty (30) days after the appointments have <br />been made. The Charter Commission shall elect a Chairman and <br />Vice -Chairman from among its membership. Further meetings of the <br />Commission shall be held upon the call of the Chairman or a majority <br />of the members of the Commission. All meetings shall be open to <br />the public. A majority of the members of the Charter Commission <br />shall constitute a quorum. The Commission may adopt such other <br />rules for its operations and proceedings as it deems desirable. <br />Members of the Commission shall receive no compensation but shall <br />be reimbursed for necessary expenses pursuant to law. <br />
