40 <br />40 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 75-77 <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Indian River County, Florida rely upon <br />the television industry as a major source of information and enter- <br />tainment, and <br />WHEREAS, there is an increasing trend towards the use of <br />vi olance and the exploitation of sex in the programming of said <br />television industry, and <br />WHEREAS, there is an increasing trend toward the commercial- <br />ization through the television media of products relating to contra- <br />ceptive devices and feminine hygiene, and <br />WHEREAS, such programming and commercialization has a pro- <br />found effect upon the citizens of Indian River County, Florida, and <br />especially the children of Indian River County, Florida. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: <br />1. That the Board of County Commi wioners of Indian River <br />County, Florida requests and urges that the Federal Communications Com- <br />mission hold public hearings throughout the country to determine whether <br />the citizens of the United States affected by the programming and <br />commercialization heretofore described desire a reversal of the trends <br />mentioned above. <br />2. That the Clerk of this Board is hereby directed to for- <br />ward certified copies of this Resolution to the following: <br />A. The Federal Communications Commission <br />B. All members of the Indian River County State <br />Legislative Delegation <br />C. The Chairman of each Board of County Commissioners <br />in the State of Florida <br />D.
