RESOLUTION NO. 76- 84 <br />WHEREAS, Florida Statutes 1974, Chapter 252 (Disaster <br />Preparedness Act) establishes a Division of Disaster <br />Preparedness and prescribes the powers and responsibilities <br />thereof; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 252.38 of said Act authorizes and <br />directs each County of this State, through its Board of <br />Commissioners to establish a County organization for <br />Disaster Preparedness and prescribes the power and <br />responsibilities thereof; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That Indian River <br />County, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, <br />through its Board of Commissioners, in official session <br />assembled this date, does hereby continue to recognize <br />the Department of County Government known as the Indian <br />River County Civil Defense Department, a Department of <br />Disaster Preparedness, to act in accordance with and in <br />support of the State Emergency Operations Plan and Program; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED this Department shall exist <br />and be responsible for providing effective and orderly <br />governmental control and coordination of emergency <br />operations in disasters resulting from enemy attack, threat <br />of enemy attack,sabotage or other hostile action, or from <br />natural or accidental causes as provided in Chapter 252; <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That this Department shall continue <br />to be headed by a Director appointed by this Board (on the <br />basis established in previous Resolutions) who shall be <br />responsible for the organization, administration and direction <br />of the organization subject only to the direction and control <br />
