Explain why this program is needed. <br />This program is needed in order to provide worthwhile Summer involvement <br />for low income Youths situated in the outlying Rural Areas of this County. <br />Most have been deprived of such an involvement in the past because of a lack <br />of transportation and being unable to afford private camps. <br />Further, this program will enhance the intellectual growth of those <br />involved by exposing them to experiences normally out of the reach of children <br />of low income house holds. <br />7. Describe the financial status of persons to be served by this <br />program. How many persons will be served? Duplicated? <br />Unduplicated? 245 <br />Nearly 90% of the children involved will <br />falls below the Federal Poverty Guidlines. We <br />children from higher income families in order <br />and awareness. <br />A minimum of 245 different children will <br />come from families whose income <br />plan to integrate this group with <br />to broaden social involvement <br />be served for a 10 week period. <br />8. How will this program be integrated with other programs serving <br />the same type of persons? What other social service agencies will <br />be contacted? <br />This program will be integrated with the YMCA'S Summer Camp Program <br />utilizing YMCA staff toinstruct and using the '111V.. Pool for instructional <br />Swimming Lessons. Also, we will work closely with the Youth Involvement Program <br />of the Economic Opportunities Council, ensuring that a maximum number of children <br />become involved. The County School Board will also be involved, for they will <br />provide transportation and lunch at no cost to the participants. <br />9. Explain how recipients of public assistance will benefit from <br />this program. <br />They will benefit greatly in that instead of having nothing to do <br />all Summer they will be able to continue their physical, moral and <br />intellectual growth by becoming involved in this program. They will be <br />exposed to numerous cultural experiences and will develop an increased <br />social awareness by being involved with children from all Social Strata. <br />Finally, they will receive a nutritionally sound meal each noon. <br />(Applications will not be processed unless <br />All questions are answered in detail) <br />Page 2—C <br />
