RES0LUTI ON NO. 80-23 <br />WHEREAS, the County of Indian River has been invited to combine with <br />the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council as a participant in a <br />Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction within the State Planning District VI for <br />the purpose of preparing, developing and implementing a criminal justice <br />program under the Justice System Improvement Act (JSIA) of 1979; and <br />WHEREAS, the County of Indian River has thoroughly considered avail- <br />able information regarding this matter from the Florida Council on Criminal <br />Justice; and <br />WHEREAS, such a combination will result in the pooling of resources <br />and increased administration efficiency; and <br />WHEREAS, participating governments within the Combined Entitlement <br />Jurisdiction will be assured of specific annual funding commitments under <br />the JSIA. <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER IN OPEN <br />MEETING ASSEMBLED IN THE CITY OF VERO BEACH, COUNTY OF INDIAN RIVER, <br />FLORIDA THIS 20th DAY OF February, 1980, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. That the County of Indian River declares its intent to elect <br />participation in a Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction with <br />The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council within <br />State Planning Distirct VI of the State of Florida as a bene- <br />ficiary of the funds under the JSIA of 1979 during fiscal <br />years 1981 through 1983; and <br />2. That The East Central Florida Regional Planning Council be <br />authorized to file in behalf of this Combined Entitlement <br />Jurisdiction, the necessary plans, applications and requisi- <br />tions in the form prescribed by the Florida Bureau of Criminal <br />Justice Assistance for a Criminal Justice Improvement Grant; and <br />3. That the said East Central Florida Regional Planning Council is <br />further authorized to furnish such information and take such <br />action as may be necessary to enable the Combined Entitlement <br />Jurisdiction to qualify for said grant; and <br />4. That the County of Indian River hereby agrees to enter into a <br />formal inter -local agreement with the East Central Florida <br />Regional Planning Council, as specified in Chapter 163 of the <br />Florida Statutes, for the purpose of accomplishing the tasks <br />associated with this Combined Entitlement Jurisdiction designation. <br />5.
