"Sonny" Dean, Directo <br />General Services 4 <br />FROM: Fran Boynton Powell, Purchasing Manager <br />SUBJ: IRC Bid #6039/Perimeter Fence for Wabasso <br />Scrub Conservation Area <br />Sole Bid Received <br />BACKGROUND INFORMATION: <br />Bid Opening Date: <br />Advertising Dates: <br />Specifications Mailed To: <br />Replies: <br />No Bids: <br />BID TABULATION: <br />Martin Fence Company <br />Lake Park, FL 33403 <br />ESTIMATED BUDGET: <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />February 14, 1996 <br />February 2, 7, 1996 <br />Ten (10) Vendors <br />One (1) Vendor <br />-0- <br />$13,925.00 <br />$25,000.00 <br />Staff recommends award to Martin Fence Company as the sole <br />bidder. (See attached memo) <br />Commissioner Tippin inquired what type of fence was to 'be <br />installed, why it was necessary, and why there was such a <br />difference between the estimated budget amount and the bid amount. <br />Community Development Director Bob Keating advised that the <br />fence was being installed to prevent illegal dumping in the scrub <br />area. <br />General Services Director Sonny Dean advised that it was going <br />to be "hog wire" fencing, not chain link. He advised that staff <br />had made inquiries on what the cost might be, but when the bid came <br />in it was much lower. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert., SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Commissioner Bird being absent) approved awarding <br />bid #6039 to Martin Fence Company in the amount of <br />$13,925, as recommended in the memorandum. <br />11 <br />March 19, 1996 <br />�ooK 97 PAGF551 <br />
