BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida 32960 <br />Telephone: (407) 567-8000 <br />February 8, 1996 <br />BergerlHarris[ToombsIElam & McAlpin <br />Commonwealth Building <br />Suite 200 <br />3150 Cardinal Drive <br />Vero Beach, FL 32963 <br />Gentlemen: <br />The following is our response to the management comments for the 1994/95 financial statements. <br />Purchasing System: <br />The County will work towards making the Purchasing Department's computer package compatible with the County <br />Clerk's accounting program and financial applications. <br />Partisan Political Activities: <br />Indian River County has never expended grant proceeds for partisan political activities and had never intended to do so. <br />Staff will develop a written policy to be approved by the Board of County Commissioners and give all employees <br />affiliated with grants written notice as required in federally assisted programs. <br />Utility Accounts Receivable/Utiliry Deposits: <br />Subsequent to completion of the field work, the IRCU has instituted revisions to the Policy and Procedure Manual, <br />including assigning personnel to follow-up on reconciling between the detail and the general ledger amounts on a monthly <br />basis. <br />Disposition of Surplus Property <br />In accordance with Florida State Statute 274.05/274.06, the County will advertise in a local publication items sold at <br />public auction by Tampa Machinery. <br />We wish to thank the audit staff of Berger�HarrisjToombsjElam & McAlpin for their constructive comments and <br />assistance in presenting an accurate and detailed report of the financial condition of Indian River County for fiscal year <br />1994/95. <br />Sincerely, <br />A - 80-j'j <br />Jos A.
