RESOLUTION NO. $1- 19 <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that there is hereby created <br />and established a parks and recreation committee within Indian <br />River County, hereinafter known as the INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE. The purpose, organizational <br />structure, appointment of members and terms of office of <br />members shall be according to the following guidelines: <br />A. PURPOSE: The INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMITTEE is formed to develop improved recreational facilities <br />and promote cooperation and coordination between the various <br />County agencies. <br />B. RESPONSIBILITIES: It shall be the responsibility of <br />the INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE to: <br />1. Study existing facilities and programs; <br />2. Develop short range and long range plans for better <br />utilization of existing and future facilities and programs, <br />to include acquisition of additional lands; <br />3. Help promote and develop cooperation and coordination <br />between the County government, Municipal. governments <br />and the Indian River County School Board; <br />4. Conduct public hearings to generate citizens ideas and <br />interest in recreation; <br />5. Ultimately help develop a master plan for County -wide <br />recreation; <br />6. Develop a plan for allocation of funding between the <br />various municipalities and County and provide alternative <br />plans for funding as appropriate; <br />7. Review the present use of School Board properties and <br />recommend areas of improvement and methods to increase <br />utilization; <br />S. Encourage those organizations and governmental entities <br />who have historically helped themselves. <br />
