doing. They question whether control is in the right place and <br />question the amount of indigent care costs coming out of taxpayers' <br />pockets. Mr. Buck believed that something good will come out of <br />this meeting and advised that their group is certainly going to <br />monitor the negotiations between the Board of Trustees and the <br />Board of Directors of IRMH, Inc. in an effort to get more control <br />and authority back to the taxpayers. <br />Richard Minetti, 1126 54th Avenue, asked what is going to <br />happen as a result of this meeting and whether another meeting will <br />be held to report back to the people. <br />Mr. Montuoro responded negatively. <br />Rev. Lord advised that the Board of Trustees is in <br />negotiations with regard to reimbursement for the hospital indigent <br />care. That is underway; that is going to happen. Our attorney has <br />studied in depth about the changes we need to make in order to <br />exercise more control. we just received information this past <br />week, and we are going to be talking about that tonight and at <br />future meetings. So, negotiations are in process on two of the <br />items listed on today's agenda. Control of budgetary matters will <br />be on the table. Major capital improvements have to be approved by <br />the Board of Trustees. <br />Chairman Adams pointed out that this is just a workshop <br />meeting and the 4 items on the Agenda have been discussed. <br />Dr. Sowell announced that the liaison committee meetings will <br />be held at the hospital on the second Monday of each month at 5:15 <br />p.m. Ordinarily, the liaison committee meets every other month, <br />but will meet monthly during these renegotiation meetings. <br />Commissioner Macht pointed out that a provision in the <br />contract gives the IRMH, Inc. Board of Directors the right to <br />assign the contract and all rights contained therein, to a <br />nonprofit hospital operator. That seemed very undesirable to him. <br />Attorney Polackwich believed that first would have to come to <br />the Board of Trustees for approval, but Commissioner Macht pointed <br />out that it doesn't say so. <br />Attorney Polackwich knew that the one time they wanted to put <br />a project over on a small piece of land ..... but Commissioner <br />Macht interjected that he understood that they are negotiating to <br />do that very thing, or at least part of it, with an organization <br />called Health First. <br />11 BOOK 7 PArjF 6 -'- <br />MARCH <br />- <br />MARCH 21, 1996 <br />I <br />
