Commissioner Eggert advised that April 11 is a deadline for a <br />number of affordable housing applications being sent to the state <br />and we have two projects in Indian River County that have asked for <br />letters of support. <br />Commissioner Bird asked to have separate motions for the two <br />projects due to a. conflict of .interest with the Sunset Park - <br />project. He announced that he would file the necessary form with <br />the Clerk's office. His realty firm represents the sellers of a 5 - <br />acre piece of property upon which Mr-. Flynn I s company is attempting <br />to build Sunset Park, an affordable housing project for the <br />elderly. <br />FORM 8B MEMORANDUM OF VOTING CONFLICT FOR COUNTY, MUNICIPAL, AND <br />OTHER LOCAL PUBLIC OFFICERS FILED IN OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Tippin, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the Chairman to write a letter in support <br />of Lindsey Gardens, a proposed affordable apartment <br />housing project, to be located on Lindsey Road (49th <br />St. between 35th and 40th Avenues). <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously (4-0, <br />Commissioner Bird abstaining) authorized the <br />Chairman to write a letter in support of the <br />development of Sunset Apartments, a proposed <br />affordable housing project to be located at 4100 <br />45th Street in Gifford. <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REMOVAL OF THE TOURISM <br />FUNCTION FROM THE FLORIDA DEPT. OF COMMERCE TO AN <br />INDUSTRY -LED TOURISM COMMSSION <br />Commissioner Tippin advised that the Tourist Development <br />Council of Indian River County would like the County Commission to <br />adopt a resolution supporting House Bill 707 and Senate'Bill 958, <br />removing the tourism function from the Florida Department of <br />Commerce to an industry -led tourism commission. <br />Deputy County Attorney will Collins advised that he will <br />prepare a resolution for adoption by the Board of County <br />Commissioners which will include 'the amendments to the specific <br />House Bills. <br />39 <br />MARCH 26, 1996 Som 97 PAGER& <br />L <br />
