RESOLUTION NO. 83-1.3 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, ENCOURAGING THE <br />FLORIDA INLAND NAVIGATION DISTRICT TO CHANGE ITS <br />DIRECTION TO INCREASE MARINE PATROL AND TO AID IN <br />EROSION CONTROL PROJECTS ALONG THE INDIAN RIVER. <br />WHEREAS, the Florida Inland Navigation District has <br />1eleaseu a report informing the 1.1 counties located along the <br />Intracoastal Waterway that they have a surplus of funds; and <br />WHEREAS, FIND would like to utilize these funds in the <br />areas surrounding the waterway by increasing the number of marine <br />patrolpersons in each of the 11 counties and by funding channel <br />erosion projects and other physical improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners supports the <br />change in the direction of FIND to further protect the economic <br />and acol.og.ical resources which exist along the Indian River. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUN'IC, FLORIDA, that: <br />1. FIND be encouraged to use a portion of the fund to <br />hire additional marine patrolpersons for each of. the It counties, <br />including Indian River County, thereby enhancing the policing <br />effort in the Indian River, and <br />2. FIND is also encouraged to use the remainder of the <br />fund to aid in the various erosion control projects to benefit <br />this scenic area. <br />The foregoing resolution was offered by Commissioner <br />Lyons who moved its adoption. The motion was seconded by <br />Commissioner Fletcher and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was <br />as follows: <br />Chairman Richard N. Bird - Aye <br />Vice -Chairman Don C. Scurlock, Jr. Absent <br />Commissioner A. Grover Fletcher - Nay <br />Commissioner Patrick B. Lyons - Aye <br />Commissioner William C.
