F- <br />I <br />PROCLAMA <br />TION <br />Recognizing April 20-27 1996 as Infant Immunization Awareness Week <br />in Indian River County <br />WHEREAS, it has been said that it takes an entire community to raise a healthy child, and <br />proper infant immunization is a community health issue that each of us must face; and <br />WHEREAS, proper immunization lays a foundation for life-long health, keeping children <br />safe from deadly diseases and saving health care costs, and <br />WHEREAS, right now, preventable childhood diseases such as measles, whooping cough, <br />rubella, and others still exist, placing our children at risk; and <br />WHEREAS, these cases could have been prevented by properly immunizing all children by <br />two years of age; and <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County hopes to overcome barriers that make immunizing babies <br />difficult through the education of parents about the importance of early immunizations, encouraging <br />health care providers to improve access and consistency of immunization services, and seeking long- <br />term policy changes that will ensure the complete and proper immunization of all children by two <br />years of age; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />CONMSSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that April 20-27,1996, has been <br />designated as <br />INFANT DAMUNIZATION WEEK <br />in Indian River County, and the Board encourages businesses, governmental agencies, community <br />based organizations, and service groups to spread the immunization message throughout our <br />community, and the Board further asks public and private health care providers, parents and children's <br />care givers in Indian River County to become partners in the health of children by ensuring early and <br />on time immunization against preventable childhood diseases. <br />Adopted this 16 day of April, 1996 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Fran B.
