40 <br />SUMMARY S'T'ATEMENT OF APPEALS <br />PROCEDURES FOR CLIENTS WHO <br />HAVE BEEN DENIED SERVICES <br />Pg7of11 <br />® The Indian River County Housing Authority <br />has established a procedure relating to the above <br />subject matter that is based upon policies, rules <br />and regulation of other agencies funded by Federal <br />funds. The initial step in this procedure is to <br />send the client a letter stating we were unable to <br />take favorable action for requested services based <br />on these consideration which are enumerated in this <br />letter. The letter goes on to state if you have <br />any questions about this action, we would like the <br />opportunity to explain in detail why your request <br />has not been approved, explain any possible altern- <br />ative, or provide any other information. <br />I£ this initial step is not completely satis- <br />factory this decision may be appealed by writing to <br />the Executive Director, Indian River County Housing <br />Authority for a review of the accuracy of our find- <br />ing. <br />The Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act <br />prohibits creditors from discriminating against <br />credit applicants on the basis of race, color, sex, <br />religion, national origin, marital status, handicap <br />or age ( provided that the applicant has the cap- <br />acity to enter into a binding contract), because all <br />or part of the applicant's income derives from any <br />public assistance program, or because the applicant <br />has in good faith exercised any right under the <br />Consumer Credit Protection Act. The Federal agency <br />that administers compliance with the law concerning <br />this creditor is the Federal Trade Commission, Equal <br />Credit Opportunity, Washington, D.C. 20580. <br />In the event unfavorable action on the <br />application is made by the Farmers Home Administration <br />which provided the funding for housing rehabilitation <br />under the "504" Loan b (,rant home Repair Program <br />that agency has established the same procedures as <br />described above. <br />G/ <br />
