Substance Awareness Center <br />Re -Direct Program <br />Grant amount: $90,000 <br />Funds used: $90,000 <br />Total served: 265 youth <br />New clients: 237 <br />Clients completed: 222 successful, 8 unsuccessful <br />Focus Area: Building Parent Capacity; Programs that address risky youth behavior <br />Program Description: ReDirect targets adolescents ages 12-18 with risky behaviors correlated <br />with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The ReDirect program proposes to re -direct and <br />motivate adolescents and their patents towards a substance free, pro -social lifestyle. SAC <br />follows science -based best practices and modalities, which are designed to help engage and <br />engage families in positive change: utilizing a non -judgmental, motivational and proven effective <br />approach for successful outcomes. <br />Outcome #1: 80% of program participants with indicated ATOD use will demonstrate reduced <br />use of ATOD as evidenced by negative drug test results during the course of the program and as <br />a requirement for successful program completion. <br />• 100% of the indicated successful completers demonstrated reduced ATOD as evidenced by <br />negative drug tests. <br />• Post-test survey demonstrates the 89% of participants stated they would refuse if <br />someone asked me to drink alcohol. <br />Outcome #2: 80% of clients will demonstrate an increase in positive coping skills as evidenced <br />by pre and post-test surveys. <br />• 100% of the successful completers demonstrated increased positive coping skills as <br />demonstrated by group participation and survey. <br />• Post-test survey demonstrates 76% of participants stated when faced with a problem or <br />difficult decision they would take a deep breath and tell themselves they could figure it <br />out. <br />• Post-test survey demonstrates 87% of participants would refuse someone who is trying to <br />get them to do something they don't want to do. <br />• Post-test survey demonstrates 85% of participants would use a goal setting model to <br />create and make progress towards achieving a goal. <br />• Post-test survey demonstrates 71% of participants would do a breathing exercise to <br />reduce stress. <br />• Post-test survey demonstrates 77% of participants said that when they want to <br />understand other people they would repeat back in their own words to make sure they <br />understood them correctly. <br />179 <br />
