Zito, Assistant County Administrator <br />From: Beth Powell, Parks and Recreation Director <br />Subject: Notice of Expired Lease for Moore's Point Roadside Park <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On September 30, 1977, the State of Florida Department of Transportation and Indian River <br />County entered into a 15 -year lease for the Moore's Point Roadside Park located on North Indian <br />River Drive and US Highway 1 south of the Brevard/Indian River County line. This roadside park <br />has been maintained continuously by the Indian River County Parks Maintenance Division since <br />the effective date of the lease though no renewal was completed after the 15 -year lease expired. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br />In March 2023, the County Public Works Director, Rich Szpyrka, received a letter from the Florida <br />Department of Transportation (FDOT) notifying the County that the lease, though never renewed, <br />has been terminated, and that the FDOT will be completing road work along US 1. The County has <br />the option to enter into a new lease after the construction has been completed, however, no <br />completion date has been provided.
