Prado, Assistant County Attorney <br />April 28, 2023 <br />Kristin Daniels, Budget Director <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />180127 th Street <br />Vero Beach, FL 32960 <br />Indian River County Environmental Control Office is requesting level funding of $7,033 from the Board of <br />County Commissioners and an additional allocation of $3,000 in salary for the Environmental Control Officer <br />to support the county office's function in protecting the health and environment of Indian River County and <br />its citizens. Although Indian River County Environmental Control Office Is supported by the General Fund, <br />fines administered and collected through the office are directly deposited into the General Fund, <br />The Environmental Control Office continues to be challenged with the economic climate of the community <br />and unmaintained, abandoned, and foreclosed properties. The presence of the hearing board compels the <br />resolution of complaints. The hearing board resolves issues by taking Into consideration the financial and <br />situational circumstances of the respondents allowing for lesser fines and/or purgeable fines with <br />compliance.
