SIGNS ON A -1-A - SEBASTIAN INLET STATE PARK <br />Chairman Adams described new signs which have been erected in <br />a residential section along A -1-A to announce motorists' approach <br />to the entrance of Sebastian Inlet State Park. She believed there <br />were too many signs which were too large and out of place. She <br />preferred fewer, smaller., and more neighborhood -friendly signs and <br />requested authorization to continue discussions with Florida <br />Department of Transportation. <br />CONSENSUS was reached to have Chairman Adams continue her <br />discussions with FDOT to address this issue. <br />ARTIFICIAL REEF OFF SEBASTIAN INLET <br />Chairman Adams explained that Commissioner Michael Roland, of <br />the Sebastian Inlet Taxing District, has been working with Brevard <br />County to secure a grant for artificial (fishing and diving) reefs <br />to be situated in the Atlantic Ocean off Sebastian Inlet. She <br />requested the Board's approval to allow staff to coordinate grant - <br />writing with Brevard County in order to obtain additional funds. <br />Board members indicated their CONSENSUS to partner with <br />Brevard County in this effort. <br />NOMINATIONS - WILLIAM G. BELL AWARD AND URBAN <br />TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR OF THE YEAR - COMI MSION <br />FOR TRANSPORTATION DISADVANTAGED <br />Commissioner Eggert had received applications for nominations <br />of Tom Fritz for the William G. Bell Award and Indian River County <br />Council on Aging as Urban Transportation Coordinator of the Year. <br />She explained that she was asked to sign the applications as <br />chairman of the Transportation Disadvantaged Committee. She <br />suggested the Board write short letters of support of the <br />nominations. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Macht, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously authorized <br />Commissioner Eggert to sign the nominations and <br />authorized Chairman Adams to sign letters in support <br />of the nominees. <br />COPIES OF APPLICATIONS AND LETTERS ARE ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />41 <br />June 25, 1996 <br />BOOK 440 <br />
