TITKAINCH, JR. <br />23-0873 Budget Ad <br />Attachments: Budget Ad <br />23-0874 Proposed budget and Millage Rates <br />Attachments: Proposed Bud -et and Millage Rates <br />County Administrator John Titkanich stated that staff was notified by the <br />Department of Revenue prior to the Preliminary Budget Hearing that the County <br />would not be able to impose or levy the additional one cent to the Tourist <br />Development Tax due to a recent legislation change that became effective July <br />1, 2023. He stated the County would be required to hold a Referendum during <br />a General Election on the increase. He noted staff would bring back an <br />Ordinance on the reallocation of the tourist tax to the Jackie Robinson Training <br />Complex and beach renourishment. <br />County Administrator Titkanich announced the total proposed budget for Fiscal <br />Year (FY) 2023/2024 was $506,901,540. He utilized a PowerPoint <br />presentation to highlight the major impacts to the proposed budget: a tax roll <br />increase of 13.8% countywide and 14.3% in the unincorporated areas; an <br />agreed -to Sheriffs Office funding increase of $5.9 million; continued funding of <br />Indian River County Florida Page 1 <br />
