As our contribution to replacing the cycle of
poverty and leveling the playing field for children in Gifford, our mission is to provide education,
experience, and training in various classical, cultural, and performing arts, for the youth of Gifford,
Florida (and neighboring Indian River County Communities), with a core focus on mastering stringed
instruments.
Using music and the performing arts as tools, the Vision of the GYO is to empower children to
change the trajectory of their lives from poverty to success and help them become productive
members of both their community and the larger community as well. Our program prepares children
to become better students, value citizenship as active agents in the community, build healthy social
skills, develop positive relationships with peers, parents and teachers, other adults, and gain
confidence and self-esteem. We have a motto of "Each One Teach One," and our students
developed the theme of "Off the Street - On the Stage," to describe their purpose.
