Students scoring below the 50th percentile on their reading <br />assessment qualify to attend this remediation and enrichment program. We know that struggling readers <br />need extra time that is well structured and includes targeted instruction to catch up to their peers. Our <br />program is a multi -faceted enriched literacy program that provides remediation, additional time for <br />mastery of academic content for struggling students, and enrichment that connects learning concepts. <br />Moonshot Academy currently serves 450+ K-3 students. <br />Managed and staffed by expert Arts Literacy Educator, Bridget Lyons, the Moonshot Reading <br />Rocket is a mobile literacy lab that creates customized literacy experiences for children and families <br />in Indian River County. The Rocket partners with dozens of early childhood community <br />organizations as well as VPK and Pre -K programs. Working in the 0-5 space, Bridget brings <br />engaging curriculum that builds early literacy skills to our youngest learners through the Literacy in <br />Action program. She engages with families through working with the Moonshot Families Connection <br />Specialists and curates literacy rich engagements throughout the community. <br />The Early Learning Programs Prevention Intervention Specialist plays an essential role in ensuring <br />best practice strategies are implemented to support students' executive functioning needs such as <br />self-regulation, initiative, and relationships/attachment. The Prevention Intervention Specialist position <br />was designed by the Learning Alliance in collaboration with the Early Learning Program Leader to <br />scaffold children with the necessary skills so that they can learn and participate positively and <br />productively in the classroom. This allows the teachers to focus on supporting and developing <br />academic skills necessary for kindergarten. The specialist ensures teacher, parent, and child alignment <br />around behavior goals and concreate actions to support closing gaps with age -level expectations. <br />0 <br />
