With CSAC funds, the cost
of five staff members will be subsidized for two hours per day, to allow a 10 -hour day of service and
maintain the required adult child ratios. The Mentor Teacher (MT) is also supported with CSAC funds.
The MT observes the classroom environment and provides feedback to help teachers, other staff and
parents increase the quality and language experiences for the children. The MT also provides training
and support to teaching staff and builds the professional capacity of teachers, staff and parents. Parent
workshops are also provided as part of these programs.
RCMA School Readiness Match (SRMAT) Program: The requested will be used as local match and help
maximize the amount awarded by the Division of Early Learning (DEL). Funds will also help to leverage
and offset the high costs of providing these intensive and comprehensive services for all children in the
centers regardless of their ability to pay. RCMA and Childcare Resources (CCR) have a partnership made
possible with CSAC funding. School Readiness eligibility limits services to families with incomes up to 150%
FPL. The children and families earning between 150%-200% FPL desperately need affordable, licensed,
high-quality child-care opportunities. These families work in landscaping, hospitality, health services,
construction and aquaculture. The partnership with CCR allows RCMA to provide the services to this
demographic known as ALICE households. RCMA and CCR seek CSAC funding to continue the
successful collaboration addressing child-care needs and support services to include, but not limited to,
direct slot payments and operational expenses associated with serving ALICE families.
111
