Our team of trained prevention specialists deliver evidence -
based programming in the classroom at their dedicated schools or through community partnerships
afterschool/summer camps.
ReDirect is an "indicated" prevention program Licensed by DCF and Accredited by CARF. It aims to
increase protective factors and reduce risk factors for substance use and other health risk behaviors.
The program includes drug testing, individual, group, and family sessions focused on skill building. An
intake assessment identifies needs and risks and addresses those in an appropriate manner and
timeframe. The prevention specialist meets with the family to identify issues that impact successful
outcomes, and to make appropriate referrals to support on-going success. Our Re -Direct program uses
a menu of evidence based/informed interventions including Botvin LifeSkillls Training, Teen Intervene,
Decision Points and Prevention Plus Wellness.
This program will be brand new for the Substance Awareness Center, and is being created to serve a
need within the county's youth. An Adolescent Outpatient program will fill a gap in services that is
evident based on the number and type of clients that are being seen in the current fiscal year in our
Re -Direct program, the number of IRC youth committing misdemeanor offenses according to DJJ, and
the number of vapes confiscated on school campuses.
C.1
